Candidate's Weekend 2015

Congrats to all who were invited to CW!! So that future applicants can get an idea of what it takes to get into Olin CW, please post your stats (test scores, GPA, extracurriculars) here. Good luck at CW!

My S did not get invited to CW: Unweighted GPA: 3.81 Rank: 10/368 SATI M: 770, R: 760 W: 700; SATII Math2:800 Biology 800 U.S History 800 APs: Chemistiry 5 BC Calculus 5 Biology 5 US Hist 5 Euro 4 Taking Physics, Stats, Gov, Spanish now … Recommendations were reported as being strong so were Essays particularly Olin specific (but you never really know) Extracurricular Activities: good but probably around average for Olin … No special hooks.

I got into CW! Stats:

ACT-
Overall:35
English: 35
Math: 36
Reading: 34
Science: 34
Combined English/Writing: 31

GPA (unweighted): 3.9
I take college courses for high school credit with heavy emphasis on math/science. Only took one AP which was Environmental Science, and I got a 5.

Extracurriculars: Leader in high school orchestra, Captain of school dance team for a year, community service with ComicCons and various other organizations, lifelong violin study. In terms of people I’ve seen get into Olin, it’s really nothing spectacular.

I think a big part of what got me in was my writing. I don’t think I’ve ever written as well as I did on my Olin essays. I’m also a girl, which may have given me an advantage, but from what I’ve seen from past statistics that advantage gets smaller every year.

Anyone from Hawaii going to CW Week 3?

@orientalmed Were you waitlisted? Has anybody heard back from Olin on the waitlist for CW?

^ Just made an account to say I was put on stand-by and have heard nothing.

…wonder how many of us there are, and how many they’ll actually take.

I can’t wait to meet everyone! Is anyone here coming to Candidates Weekend 1?
,

Anybody heard anything about the stand-by list? Guessing they’re probably done inviting, but…

( congrats to everbody who was invited – you all seem extraordinary )

I would not give up hope from the CW stand-by list until CW 3 starts. Things like weather and such can also affect how many stand-by people may be contacted for CW.

My son was on standby and he just got an email that all spots had been filled. There could be a last minute opening, but it’s pretty unlikely at this point. Congrats to all that made it this far.

Best of luck to everyone braving the Boston area this weekend for CW1!

I’m headed to Olin for CW2 this weekend! For those of you know attended CW1, what was it like (atmosphere, interview, projects…etc)?

@Alaier‌ Congrats on getting into CW. Have a great weekend!
Practically the first thing they tell you at CW is ‘What happens at CW, stays at CW and definitely keep it off of CC’
So relax, have fun, be yourself and it will be great!

@Alaier‌ I’m going to Candidates’ Weekend 2 as well! Maybe we’ll see each other
