I clicked on the provided link: https://www.commonapp.org/application/applicantlogin.aspx?allowcopy=true

Which redirects to the normal front page of the common application.

But when I log in, it's still normal. It doesn't present me with a different page or anything.

Is there something I'm missing?

I think that link has issues. This one works for me though:

http://www . cacolleg**********/ 2011 / 1 2 / how -t o - c r e a t e-an-alter n ate-versi on-of- common-app/

Edit:

Alright, it wouldn’t let me post the link and when I tried to space it that’s what happened. Just google alternate version common app and look for the link that looks remotely similar to the one I posted. It should be like the third or fourth link

Just so you know, you cannot create another version of your common application without falsifying your application. This was discussed in another thread last week and I actually checked with the common app people. If you have used up your twenty slots for colleges, you can only apply to them using their own application process. (if they have one) If you need more spaces, delete some of the schools which have their own application and use the spaces for those schools who do not accept anything other than the common app.

^ Wait, what? Now I’m confused.

I didn’t like my common app personal statement, so I’m tweaking it a little bit. I already submitted my common app to three schools, but the three other schools I hadn’t submitted it to, I transferred over to the new version. Is this okay?

Yes, you can create a new common app version using the instructions they gave you on the website. Idk what marybee was saying…

You can create a different version of the same common app, but you cannot create another common application.
