Can't afford an SAT class.

My family doesn't have the money to drop one grand on an SAT class, like most kids that go to my school do.How can i do work on my own equivlent to what they'd be learning in the class? Please dont give generic answers, such as books. If you used a book that really helped you out please let me know the title!!

Thank you.

Hey, try searching for some local test prep guy. They are usually much better than the huge companies.

Also, read Xiggi’s advice. It got me a 2380.

I used Princeton Review SAT Study Guide a lot. I did very well on my SAT without a class, better than everyone I know (that told me their score).

Don’t sweat it. You really don’t need to go to a class.

Just buy the book(s) (BB, RR, etc.) and do the practice probs.

If you really want to have someone teach you, hire a tutor (could even be a family friend that did well on the SAT) that can help you review on/teach the section that you need the most work in. Its a lot more efficient than a class and is cheaper (I think).

You don’t need one. I don’t believe in SAT prep classes and neither should anybody else.

Buy: direct hits 1&2, college board’s official study guide #2 (for practice), and another book/s (for learning).

Yeah what ^^ said, buy the college board’s official study guide. Its basically the first edition with 3 new tests or something like that, but the tests are very good. Also buy Gruber’s Complete SAT Guide because it comes with 10 practice tests, a 3500 vocabulary list, and roots. Don’t buy Barrons it doesn’t really help. If you study everyday and are very dedicated then you should do better than those kids that pay for tutoring.

Agree with what everyone on here said. Just use books.

Don’t need an SAT prep class to do well, be studious and use the blue book to all its potential.

You’ll need some serious discipline, which is priceless.
