Can't all late orientation attendees take at least one major-related class?

Hello, I'm an incoming Bruin planning to major in political science.

I want to take at least one major-related class for Fall Quarter, but almost all of my major-related classes are closed. Does this mean that all those who attend late orientations (namely orientation 110 and 111) can't take any major-related class, and have to take only GE classes for their first quarter?

Political Science 6R and 50R are still open…please enroll! I don’t want to be the only freshman in the class! The course will stay open for a while, as many people are not willing to take two polisci courses at once.

i’m a poli sci major and was in session 104, all the major related claases were full then. they say that freshman usally don’t take classes in thier majors and they want u to focus on your GE’s

Hey babygurl14, wasn’t PS 50R & PS6R open then???

Thank you for your replies.

drbash, I’ll definitely think about taking PS50R & PS6R for Fall Quarter. Maybe we can meet in the classroom!

Babygurl14, is that true that freshmen usually don’t take their major-related classes and focus on GEs? Wow, I never knew it. Thank you anyway. :)

i didn’t check but i did heard that PS6R was open, but my counseler suggest that we focus on our GE’s cause the major related class may be too much the first quarter, but all the other poli sci classes were close. They say by winter quarter u might be able to get into poli sci classes if they r not full, and i think one of them is counts as a ge also.

check the schedule of class on the ucla website and they have all of the classes that r availablie

I can’t seem to get into very many classes for my major either. But do remember, taking three to four classes a quarter, you don’t have to finish everything from your major ASAP. Waiting until winter won’t kill you.
