I feel really bad for putting up that post with that link...but like some other people said, you shouldn't read too much into whether you can log on or not...the website was really outdated most of the time even with checking admission status...so just wait for your decision letter everyone. I'm going to be waiting before any celebration or anything.

I am still not totally convinced. I wouldn't trust anything that you don't hear directly from the college.

I would still be happy to be able to receive an acceptance letter. I wouldn't stand on ceremony.

it sounds too good to be true AND too dumb to be true.

Barnard mailed out decisons on Friday, so they had to make arrangements for accepted students on their website the day they were sent out. It's not thoughtless or anything, it's actually right on time. Decisions are out, so this isn't an early notification or anything. It's not a glitch, in my opinion. It's just standard procedure.

chorae...how did you get the link?

I had to retrace the steps to the link myself this morning. I think if you do a google search for 'admitted students' within barnard.edu, it takes about fifteen seconds to find that page. Personally, I think it might've been better if Barnard had put a different password for the admitted students site in the actual acceptance letter. (And now that we've discovered the leak this year, I doubt it'll be there next year.)
I'll be interested to hear if the link actually did mean anything as the week goes on and we get our decisions.

I was looking through the Barnard site.
I went to their admission link and then clicked on information for admitted students, and then clicked on the admitted students link within that page.

This is where I found all those links:

Decision: Accepted! (Early Decision)

Stats:[ list][] SAT: 760CR 790M 770W combined [] SAT IIs: 730 Math1 670 US History 650 Chemistry [] GPA: 4.3 weighted (our school goes by a 4.6 scale or something weird like that, which basically means my real GPA is lower than 4.3), top 13% [] Rank: 45/352 [li] Other stats: I've been in All-State and All-Shore Choruses for all of high school [/list]Subjective:[/li]Essays: My short answers were really long and I used the online common app to submit them. I thought it was an error with the application, and admissions told me to email my responses. Later on I read something on cc that advised on short short answers because admissions officers would get annoyed, but I guess they didn't mind. I wrote the essay about going on a mission trip to Trinidad and visiting a boys' prison. I think they were pretty good.
Teacher Recs: one was really good, the other was alright
Counselor Rec: didn't see it, but we talked a lot before, so it was probably good.
Hook (if any): don't know
Location/Person:
State or Country: New Jersey
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: Female
Other Factors: don't know
General Comments: My grades weren't amazing, but I took the most advanced courses available (I was in a magnet program). I think that my SAT I score made up for my grades and SAT II scores. I am also very active in my church youth group (I'm the service project coordinator this year) and I do a lot of community service and chorus stuff.

i'm still not betting anything on the fact my ID worked...

I don't have the stats that everyone seems to have....I didn't even take the SAT II's

edit...thanks Chorae

out of curiosity cme2345...what were your stats?

31 ACT, 1880 SAT (600 writing, 650 math, 630 verbal)
3.98 gpa (weighted...tough course load)
18/230ish, top 10%
good rec's (at least I think)
my short answers sucked...horribly.
my essay was good. It was about a class i took during the barnard pre-college program (never explicitly stated that it was...but it was about it)

God I'm really depressed right now. What a sucky way to find out. I thought i really had a shot with a 2210 SATs and 92UW GPA. I guess my downfall was that I was one of 13 applicants from my school (and we only have 50 kids in our grade).

cool2bars...don't be depressed...nothing is definite yet. we shouldn't really jump to conclusions. i'm a bit disappointed to see barnard release this link before some people even get the official mail in their hands.

Status: Can't Log In
SATS: 800M 800V 690W
SATIIs: 800 Bio 740 IC
GPA: 98.5 (11 APs by graduation)
Other stats: Intel Semi, Siemens semi, All State Orchestra, Off Broadway dancer, some school clubs w/ leadership

Drawbacks: I didn't schedule an interview.

Maybe my drawback was that I was 15 minutes late to my on-campus interview. I called and told them though. Damn it. If that was it thats just unbelieveably sad.

ohmywow, you have much better stats than I do and I can log in. The only reason I can think of that you wouldn't have gotten in is if they thought you were using them as a safety and didn't want to accept you because of that. If you're in NY, you'll probably also get your stuff tomorrow.

and cool2bars: I completely forgot about an alumni interview I had until the guy called me fifteen minutes after we were supposed to meet and I was still sitting in my room in my pajamas. :-)

haha....ohmywow...
I think your stats compared to my stats show just why we can't trust ANY of this...

all I can say is this link sucks for all of us...it depresses many and may be giving a few false hope.

I just spoke to the admissions office and they said that all the ID's are not live yet. I don't know if she just said that to make me feel better, but she said to wait until you get your letter. I think that if you can't log on, then you were rejected or waitlisted. I am so sad!

I have a bad feeling that she was just being nice. Which means I didnt get in... ughhh.

i got in! :)

they didn't send any financial aid info though :/
