I'm going to be a freshman this fall and I got my housing assignment, and my roommate's name, but he did not release his phone number and he's also non-existent on Facebook, Twitter, and every other website there is. All I have is an email, but when I tried emailing him he won't respond. What am I supposed to do before move-in if I can't contact him?

It’s still pretty early…lots of schools haven’t even let out yet. He could have a another school email account that he uses as his primary address during the school year…maybe under the gun with final exams. I know lots of kids that are done with FB and rarely check in if they have an account at all. I would wait a few more weeks. Maybe you could contact the school and verify the information.

You’re probably right, i’m worry about nothing. please don’t respond to this thread anymore!

He might be traveling or something. Although one of my kids had a roommate who didn’t respond (different college), and the roommate ended up not attending the college after all (part of “summer melt”). So my kid had a different roommate when fall came. But I would not worry if he is not responding, he could be on vacation or something. Honestly… i wouldn’t worry even if you can’t contact him before getting there. Used to be that no one touched base with their roommate before starting college, you just showed up and greeted the person who was moving into the same room. Yeah, you can’t coordinate TV and fridge plans… but that isn’t a big deal to work out once you get there, either.

Wait it out a little - it’s still way too early (heck I didn’t get my housing assignment till mid-July). If by the beginning of August you have not heard from him or seen any contact info, I’d see if I could call the housing office and see if there’s any way you can at least get some of that info (it’s in the Clemson phonebook anyways - www.clemson.edu/phonebook)
