Can't decide what AP tests to take....

I am a senior and I'm taking AP Bio, AP Chem, and AP Calculus AB. I am definitely take the AP test for math, and I have also decided on taking the AP English Language and Composition test. However, I am having a hard time deciding whether or not to take the AP Bio and AP Chem tests. I have all A's, so I'm not doing poorly in the classes.

I am planning on majoring in Biology. Is it worth taking the AP test for a subject I want to major in? I know that the curves for these tests can be generous, so even if I get a 4 or 5, does that really demonstrate that I know everything I need to know to be able to skip the intro course in college? We have to learn 22 chapters on our own in AP Biology if we plan to take the AP test, and that is a ridiculous amount of information! Would I benefit in just retaking the course in college, and would the college course cover all the info not covered in my AP class?

As for both chemistry and biology, it's not that I am worried about not passing the tests, it's more about mastering the material. I don't want to miss out on anything that I could possibly benefit from the college course (are their benefits?). I love science, and I just want to be as prepared as possible in terms of knowing the material. I keep going back and forth because I like the idea of having more freedom in my schedule, but again, I don't want to regret skipping a course. I should also mention that I am attending the Honors College at Wayne State University. I'm not completely certain on how much harder their Honors Courses are, but considering all of this, any insight would be much appreciated. I am stressing myself out over here!

I think you’ll need both for a Bio major. What’s stopping you from taking both of them? In terms of difficulty, Bio is more rote memorization and facts-based recall, and Chem is more math-y and following x steps to get x answer.

Well, here is what Wayne State says for the AP tests:
[Transfer Credit - Tests](<a href=“Transfer to Wayne State University - Wayne State University”>Transfer to Wayne State University - Wayne State University)
<a href=“Transfer to Wayne State University - Wayne State University”>Transfer to Wayne State University - Wayne State University;

AP biology, score of 3-4 = BIO 1510; take BIO 1500
AP biology, score of 5 = BIO 1510 + 1500; take more advanced course
AP chemistry, score of 3 = CHM 1220 + 1230; take CHM 1240 or 1410
AP chemistry, score of 4-5 = CHM 1220 + 1230 + 2280; take CHM 1240 or 1420 (or do they mean 1410?)

It appears from the course catalog that CHM 1410 is a specially designed accelerated general and organic chemistry course for those who have AP chemistry credit.

You may also want to check the course syllabuses and old final exams of the courses that you might skip with the AP credit when deciding whether to skip them. But if you are pre-med, check with medical schools about AP credit, since many do not accept it for pre-med course work.

Seems like it is better to take the AP tests, since they can be useful. If you forego the AP tests but later decide you want to use the credit, you will have lost the opportunity.
