Can't Decide Which Major...

Hello! I am a junior and my passion has ALWAYS been filmmaking. I really love every aspect, I have submitted to multiple festivals, and I am involved with many projects. A terrible thing happened in my town and I was definitely changed by it, and I think for the better. I decided in the aftermath that I wanted to go into documentary filmmaking so I could teach others about really amazing people, like the ones that are helping me through this trauma.

But, recently, I have gotten the urge to become an elementary school teacher. My mom is one, and I LOVE helping her grade papers, setting up the classroom, etc. and I love little kids. I think after what happened, I really honored teachers more... now I am thinking if I go into education I want to work in inner-city schools. By teaching, I can make a direct impact on children, especially ones who don't always have the best role models or opportunities. (Also, with both options, I want to join the Peace Corps after college :D )

I am really, really stuck because they are both my dream jobs, and I am kind of freaking out because I had this whole plan for filmmaking (which I still adore), but I'm having second thoughts. And I feel like I shouldn't go "undecided" in college because studying film and education require very specific tracks... Any thoughts or comments on how I should move forward? Thank you in advance!!

By filmmaking, you might have the opportunity to reach out to a larger audience. By teaching, as you said, you can make a positive impact on the younger generations and really inspire them.

There’s always the choice of double majoring or having a major and a minor, though it might be difficult to find a school.

Hm.
