Hey everyone. So I’m having trouble deciding what UC to transfer to. I got accepted to UCLA, UCSB and UCD. I got waitlisted for UCSD and I’m still waiting for UCI. So I applied for pharmaceutical chemistry and others as pharmacology which is what I want to get my bs in. Except for UCLA since they don’t offer any of those majors so I got in as a chemistry major. Now the problem is that I didn’t think I would get into UCLA but to my surprise i did. I was certain I was going to get into UCSD but I didn’t which was originally my first choice. I want to go to UCLA because its UCLA,but i also want to major in pharmaceutical chemistry. If I go to any of the other UC’s I would try to double major in pharmaceutical chemistry and chemistry.So no matter what I would still get a bs in chemistry. I can’t decide which school to go to can you please give me so advice? Also which degree and school would allow me to be more competitive for dental school or grad school? also thanks if you decide to give me feedback.
I believe you should go to the school where you’ll feel the most comfortable. From my experience, being in a comfortable environment is key to being able to study and network effectively.
Go to the school with the best program for your major. Don’t settle for “the better school” if what you want to major in isn’t even offered. I can’t answer your last question but my coworker got into dental school from UCI.
UCLA
Since you want pharm it seems that really is the answer. But only you can decide.
You should go to UCI/UCSD(if you get in) and major in pharm chem if that’s what you want. I don’t think you’ll be at a disadvantage when it comes time to apply to dental/grad schools because you went to UCI or UCSD. Just do your best to get good grades and good ECs so you can be competitive for dental/grad schools.
Don’t go to UCLA just because it’s UCLA. A lot of people do that and come to regret it. UCI and UCSD have something to offer to you that UCLA doesn’t. Keep that in mind. Good luck with everything.
I don’t know where to go either guys… So many choices.
Go to UCLA because its UCLA
@TonyStark93 what are your options?
@lindyk8 UCSB UCI UCSD CSUN CSU Poly Pomona and I’m still waiting for USC
UCSB I’m going to have to pass Econ10A w/ 85% or above in order to get accepted into the full major otherwise I will be shut out of econ and be forced to go into another major and I don’t want to take the risk.
UCSD I’m going to have to take up to Calc 3 and on top of that idk if I really like the school
UCI again I’m missing one prereq course so I am going to have to temporarily switch into another major and once I’m done with Calc 2 I will be able to switch back into business econ.
Wow, that’s harsh - 85%. UCSD, some ppl like it some dont. Sounds like you got a good haul, though.
Tony i heard 10a is curved and im on the same boat as you. Im gonna transfer in ucsb 2016 and im kind of nervous of seeing the bad reviews of econ 10a plz let me know whats up
This is an old thread FYI.
