I cannot decide between cornell, uchicago, and bu. I loved the campuses of cornell and chicago and they are top ranked school with great programs. Plus, I talked to the track coach there and they both want me on their team. However, I have always loved the city of Boston (I'm from CT) and a huge Boston sports fan and have wanted to go to BU since 7th grade, since I'm a legacy there. I want to major in neurobiology and then go to med school. Which of these schools would be the best for that.

Haha, worry about it once you have the acceptance letters on the table(: I’m sure if they want you recruited and your stats are in the right range, you’ll be fine, but I wouldn’t fret over this until I have to.

Whoops. Ended the sentence in a preposition. Pardon me(:

well I already got accepted at chicago and should be accepted at Bu. These are the only schools I’m applying to. And grammar isn’t too important online.

Lol, trust me, on CC, people will jump all over you for improper grammar… Well, if you got into UChicago, I’m sure you’re in at BU too, and most likely at Cornell… I’d assume all 3 schools have an admitted-applicant weekend, or at least a day, to get a feel for the school, right? (Usually a whole weekend where you stay in a dorm there) That’s what I’d base my decision on, that and the ranking of my major, along with med-school admission stats. Though I wouldn’t place as much emphasis on the stats as I would on the extended visits – you might find yourself choosing a different major and/or career path later on.

Edit: Ahah… Ended my sentence in a preposition AGAIN!=P

Well I won’t jump over you or anyone for grammar. I know mine is horrible. I’m just torn between the academic aspects of cornell and chicago and the emotional attachment I have with BU

I really don’t think UChicago would be great for your major; Cornell would be best for it, I assume? So if you like BU better, and Cornell better, and you know that BU fits you better and Cornell has a better program for you, I’d put UChicago as my third choice… Not to say it isn’t an outstanding school, though; just that from a logical standpoint, you probably won’t benefit from it as much. This is what I gather from your posts, at least.

Here’s the deal. If you’re going to med school its not really going to matter. GPA and MCAT are really the determinants. The advantage of going to Chicago or Cornell is if you excel you’ll have a better shot at the best med schools. But if you just want to be a doctor, a great GPA at BU will get you there.

Now the flip side. If you decide at all to switch majors or careers, you will be worse off if you go to BU. Chicago and Cornell will open doors than BU cannot.

Finally while you love Boston there is a great chance you will get to spend time there in your life, either for grad school, work, or a residency. I wouldn’t choose a school for a city, particularly one thats not known for being exceptionally tight knit. Just my two cents.
