Can't Decide

I have been accepted to the following schools:
Queens Commerce
WLU Business
Western Political Science (Hopefully Ivey in Year 3)
U of T Engineering Science
Waterloo Computer Engineering
U of T Life Sciences
Western Life Sciences
Stern School of Business (NYU)
U of Michigan LSA
UBC International Economics

Basically, in terms of finance, they are all pretty much even.
My overall goal is to go into a MBA program in the united states (Hopefully one of the ivys)

I am passionate about both business, economics, and engineering. I am not looking to be a doctor.

Lets say I am equally passionate and talented in both business, economics and sciences (engineering) which career path would you recommend if my overall goal is to get into a prestigious MBA program.

Stern. Period.

@bouders‌ care to explain?

@Bluesplayer‌ How are you financially? Stern is definitely great, but it’s up to you to decide if it’s worth the $$$ when you have other excellent options. The fact that you applied to life science programs although you don’t want to become a doctor seems a bit odd to me…I would not recommend those because they don’t leave all that many alternate career options open imo.

Also, U of T EngSci and (to a lesser degree) Waterloo Computer Engineering are difficult to get a GPA in. So you may want to think hard before choosing one of those.

I’m a Canadian who moved to the States. I’ve been a student, a job hunter and a prof in both countries, so here’s why I said Stern - It is more difficult to get a job or be admitted to grad school as a graduate of a Canadian university. This is due to lack of awareness of Canadian schools by US schools as well as lower GPA’s in Canadian undergrad. So if you want to get into a well known US MBA program, you are better off doing your undergrad in the States. This takes all the Canadian undergrad programs off the table.

The U of T programs that you mentioned would be particularly detrimental to a GPA. My son took first year Bio at U of T last semester. The first midterm had an average in the 50’s. This is a program where everyone who got in had at least mid-80’s in high school. People in Eng Sci usually have mid 90’s averages in high school. The average in Eng Sci will be 20 points below that.

To get into a good to excellent MBA program, you will need a job for a few years first. Your best US option for that is going to be Stern.
