I'm stuck betweening EDing to NYU Stern or Carnegie Mellon. I had always intended on EDing to Stern, but Carnegie looks like such an amazing school. I also intend on going to law school over getting an MBA after doing an undergrad in econ. or finance. I could go on and on about this topic, but what I just said pretty much sums it up. Would anyone mind discussing the pros and cons of both schools with me?

NYU= ****load of money. No campus but in NYC.

CMU= Pittsburgh (Eh) I guess a campus. I know someone that goes there and he says that it’s so intense and he never has fun.

I personally would choose Stern.

Why would you want to apply ED if you’re not 100% sure that it’s the only school for you?

Well, these two schools are really close for me. I think I’d be perfectly happy at either one, so I’m looking into some more pros and cons for each.

I’d be willing to bet that you could find more schools that you’d be perfectly happy at if you opened up the search. And you should because applying ED doesn’t exactly guarantee you a spot.

I think ED is best for the “money is no object” applicant who has done a lot of research on schools, has visited a number of schools and has found him or herself certain that this one school is the best fit. Your uncertainty suggests otherwise although you may find yourself certain closer to the application deadline.

NYU and CMU are both good schools and you clearly picked them for a reason. I suggest that if you have not visited already that you do so several times before the application is due because a school that sounds good or looks good on a website may or may not be the best personal fit.

CMU offers an overnight visit. Take them up on that.

You will probably get the most detailed info from NYU at a fall open house.

It’s best for you to trust your own instincts as to which is the best school for you after visiting both.

I agree, why would you ED if you aren’t sure where you would want to go 100%.

Personally, I’d go for Carnegie Mellon.
