I'm looking for a laptop with a core duo, 14.1'' or smaller, portable, and with a built in camera for under $1250. Has anyone been able to find a computer with those specs at that price?

Thanks

Just saw that, but the fact that it's an Apple scares me. I don't plan on playing games on it, but what about microsoft office? All I'm seeing is some Apple Software studios, which I have no idea what it is.

Most windows-based computers don't come with microsoft office either. Just get office for mac. You'll be ok. :)

or get openoffice.org for mac.

Open Office is free and supports all Microsoft Office files. Not to mention it's possible to install Windows on the new Macs if you really want to use the new Office 2007.

So can I take an everyday windows xp disc, and install it on a mac?

yes kinglin. also, office 2007 sucks. the look of it is just dumb. microsoft tried to make it even more idiot proof than it already is.

You need Windows XP that has SP2 already in it I believe. For this very reason, I have yet to use bootcamp.

Thinkpad Z61 series

Go get a Dell XPS M1210 if you want a gaming/portable computer.

Dell owns Acer. And every time I hear or see the word Acer spoken or written, I have nightmares. Acer quality is terrible. Dell can't be much better. :D

I would stay away from windows-based computers in general. :D

You recommend people to buy UltraSPARCs and other RISC-based computers?

Wha....?

I'm merely recommending macs over any windows-based laptop.

Macs are solid choices for a non gamer.

Can you define "Windows-based laptop"? MacBooks can run Windows, therefore making it a "Windows-based laptop".

Windows based laptop is any laptop that has windows as its default operating system. This excludes linux and mac.

Since I can always get XP for $2 at my college, wouldn't it be a good deal to go with the Apple? I mean it's a core duo 1.83ghz, and portable for about $1000.

im personally getting a macbook 2.0GHZ, make sure u get more ram, ull deff need it, 1GB should be enought, u can always order the ram online and install it yourself its really easy

You don't think 512mb is enough for OS X Tiger? And what about the white case. Is it possible to paint it like the G5s?
