Can't fit the challenging classes I want into schedule

I am very worried that higher level colleges that I plan to apply to, like Duke, will not consider my application because I will have taken only a total of 4 AP classes. (Last year I took AP Biology and AP US History, and I was not able to take any AP classes during 10th grade because I had just moved from Canada and had to retake classes that my American school did not give me credit for. And during 9th grade in Canada, no AP classes were available.)

Today I received my senior year schedule, and the AP European history and AP English classes that I want to take do not fit with my other classes. The AP classes that they did fit into my schedule are AP Chemistry and AP Calculus AB, both of which are year long classes. I also was accepted into this honors medical research program at my local university's medical school that only 15 seniors from our county were accepted into. That program is during my 4th (last) period all year, so it creates a lot of conflicts with which classes I wanted to take. Because of this and the placement of AP Calculus and AP Chemistry, I cannot fit AP English or AP European history into my schedule. Also because of this, my alternates of AP Government or AP Calculus BC do not work out either.

So, my senior year schedule is: honors english 4, honors contemporary law & justice, AP Calculus AB, AP Chemistry, and my honors medical research program

Now I'm really worried that colleges will think I did not take my senior year seriously enough. I really want to take more AP classes, and I will be talking with my counselor once she returns to work on August 20th, but is there a way to let colleges know that I tried to take challenging, rigorous courses, but the scheduling didn't allow it? I am a straight A student but I feel that straight A's in honors courses and 4 AP's will still not be as good as having many AP's..

Please let me know if you got into Duke or a higher level college and what kind of classes you took. And the main question is, if my schedule with many AP's doesn't work out, can I somehow let colleges know that I was signed up for many AP classes, but my school did not fit them into my schedule?

Sorry for the long rant, and thanks so much for any answers!

they still see your senior year rigor and your grades at the end of they year IIRC.
