Cant Get A Jobbb!!!!!

aghh i filled out a million apps to places like target, petsmart, macys, borders, citcuit city, marriott, holiday inn, bath and body, bed bath adn beyond, etc... and i dont get any offers!!

what are some other places for me to work at? and what am i doing wrong?!

Try giving the place a follow up call a couple days after you turn in the application. Businesses like that, it shows you're interested in working there.

Uh maybe if you gave alittle more information then saying, ''I filled out a million apps, What am i doing wrong?''.

Same here. I almost got a job at a certain restaurant that I will keep anonymous, but the manager kept biding time, saying that she hadn't finished processing my app, and when I went up to her to see if she really had any openings, she said that she was looking for mainly full time jobs! Why the f*** didnt you tell me before I wasted time applying? I hate how managers keep you wait-listed so they can hire you on their own whim.

I was in your same position. I couldn't get a job, today I had my first interview at a retail clothing store. I think I'll get the job, but I don't think I can work any longer.

I did not think I'd ever get a job so I signed up for a summer SAT prep course and now I will probably get scheduled to work then(I also have games at night). So I think that if they call me back I just won't work for them. I'm going to have to quit with them at the end of the summer either way.

i cant get a job either. theres a few issues why: A) places generally dont like hiring teens, B) you're competing with every other teen who wants a summer job. theres a lot of them.

its lame. they said go bug the manager. been there, done that. i did nothing but **** the manager off because im not the only persno who decided to "check up" on their application. i say wait it out. a lot of people will leave around august or september, and then there will be load of spaces.

You need to call up the places a week or so after you send in your app. At the place I work, they don't follow up on teen apps unless they call back first.

Try a temp agency?

Haha, good luck, kid. I did your thing, was too lazy to call back, and then got hired on the spot in the mall's food court. I was fired after three days when they found out I'd be leaving in September.

So forgeddaboudit. Plenty of time to work in college/real world.

when you turn in the application try to talk to the manager then if you can. if you can't definitely follow up with a call. it's better to stop in again though.

Isn't it a bit late to find a job? There's like a month left before summer is over. I would recommend looking earlier in May if you're just trying to find a job in the service industry and do not mention anything about school or if you're only working until September unless they specifically ask. If you're in college, I think it might even be better not to put it on your application because employers are reluctant to hire college students because they know that they'll be leaving for school in the fall.

Fudgemaster hit the nail on the thread. All the summer jobs are already taken. You should start searching right after school gets out or even before if possible.

The cost of hiring and training an employee isn't worth it if you're only going to be working a month or so.

yay, i got 3 interviews for tomorrow at jc penney, circuit city, and sears!
does anyone know what kind of training retail stores give? and how long does teh whole hiring process take??
