I'm having tons of trouble improving in the math section. I've taken about 10 math practice tests plus 3 regular tests and have only gotten 20 or above once. I can get a 26-29 in English so I don't want math to bring me down. I bought McGraw Hill's Math book but the explanations on how to do questions is so vague and it's more like a review for people who already know everything. I also borrowed 4 other ACT guides from the library and they haven't helped. What I hate is that the authors don't expect you to use a calculator, which I am very dependent on.

Are there any ACT math books out there that gives step-by-step + calculator instructions on how to do the problems?

EDIT: I just found out that the way I was finding my score wasn't accurate and lowered my score by like 2-3 points so half of the time I've made it 20 and over

try the real act prep book it helps a lot. but i can say that some of this stuff is just "natural"..i've gotten 34 in math no prep. but reading and science kills me no matter wat i do. english is a guessing game..lol..but ya, the real act prep book is very good.

If you paid attention in Algebra I and II, geometry and hopefully Pre-Calc, this test is e-z mode.
However, download some calculator programs which can solve equations/solve triangles/etc...

Just read the questions carefully and think about it. It also helps if you stay calm. I went from a 25 Math to a 30 Math within 4 months with no prepping.
