So I’m applying for Georgia State and I feel that I’m qualified. I fall within the requirements. I have a 3.2 cumulative GPA with a 1690 SAT score. I know they aren’t great compared to other people, but it works for me. A required essay section on the common application is: Please list your primary extracurricular and community service activities. Describe one community service activity that you have participated in that has changed your view on a particular social issue. Discuss the social issue and how your experience changed your way of thinking about it. The thing is, I haven’t participated in ANYTHING. Maybe donated to goodwill and stuff like that, but nothing that I see is worth mentioning in this part. Don’t know what I’m supposed to do here… don’t think I should lie about this either.
I would suggest that you FIND a local community service opportunity – (help out in a soup kitchen, a food bank, whatever – there must be something local available to you) – learn something from it… and write about it.
Well I suppose it’s my fault, but I don’t really have time to do that as my deadline is coming up very soon…
Probably too late, but my advice would be to write about why you haven’t done anything, and how you plan on changing that in the future years (you can candy coat this as needed)
