all i can say is skim more rather than read in depth. but while skimming make sure you are actually absorbing the information. aim for 4 to 5 mins AT THE MOST per passage. then the rest on questions.

Practice reading faster. Perhaps it is mentally impossible for you to read at the pace needed. Many, Many people do not finish the passages. Its no big deal.

read the first and last sentence of each paragraph and answer as many as u can thats better than trying to read it all and not even being able 2 get to the last q

Try drawing a line down the middle of each column of text. Then glance once on each side of the line and read down the page that way. That way you learn to look at groups of words rather than individual ones, so you get the idea of the passage without getting caught up with filler words. You comprehend the passage better and it's waaaaaay faster.

Another option is to just follow along with a pencil, and move your pencil rather quickly. Make sure you keep your eyes following the pencil or it won't work.

To time yourself, Kaplan's book says that prereading the passage should take about 3 minutes. After 9 minutes, you should have all the questions answered. If you need to skip around, finish all of the undone questions before you move on to the next passage so you don't forget the details.

Practice makes perfect for skimming. It took me a while before I got the hang of skimreading. You have to train your eyes I suppose to read fast and absorb info at the same time. So, skimread half of the passage(time youreslf if you have to) Then, go to the questions and do the ones you can POE very easily. Skip the harder ones. Read the rest of the passage and then answer the remaining q's (: Good luck...oh and plus do lots of practice tests.

On the ACT I think it's wrong to believe that skimming the passage will be most efficient. I think rather than attempting to skim through the material you should be more focused on absorbing all the information you read, therefore when you are answering the questions you will not have to keep referring to the text for answers. This will save a lot of time.

Read lots of novels.. I had a 29 on the first try.. and last 3 practice tests i've never had more than 2 wrong. I read a sh1tload this summer though.
