Can't take 2 AP physics exam in the same yr?

I heard that people say you can only take one out of three AP physcs (B, C mechanics, C EM) in a given yr, is that true? I searched on collegeboard but didn't find any results.

I think that might be true. It sounds similar to the calc policy (which I know for a fact to be true) where one can only take AB or BC in a given testing year.

NO! You can definitely tak both C tests. This year, one starts at 12 and the other starts at 2. If I remember correctly, the Physics B test is at the same time as the C test, though.

the rule only applies to calc ab and bc. you can take all 3 physics test in a year if you want to. at my school, we do physics b and c in one year (im doing that this year), so most people take b and one of the c tests. you may not be able to take two separate classes for physics, but you definitely can take both tests.

Agree with Senior0991. I sure remember not being happy to write for TWO AP tests for ONE class (Physics C.) Outrageous! Why can’t they design the test like they do for Calc BC, which has the first component for AB?

Trickysocksman is correct that one cannot take Calc AB and BC in the same year. If a student takes the BC exam, College Board also provides a Calc AB subscore, which, if it’s high enough, may earn a student credit for AB even if he/she bombs the BC test items.

Senior0991 is correct that Physics B and Physics C exams are scheduled to take place at the same time. (Monday, 5/11/09 at noon)

A student may definitely take both parts of Physics C Mech and E&M in the same testing cycle.

FAP – it’s so they can charge TWO exam fees for Physics C! Seriously – last year when S1 took it we heard of a lot of kids whose classes never got far enough through E&M to be prepared for the exams, so they just took Mechanics (or took both and did poorly on E&M).

I’m talking all 3 this year, actually. There really aren’t any restrictions.

How are you scheduling that?

you can take all three, you would just take either B during the alternate testing time or both C’s during the designated alternate time.
