I can't visit the April Programs, and I called the admissions office. They stop providing for overnight stays on April 15. However, I can't go until the 25th (Late, I know >_>).

Is it worth the plane ticket to go to Chicago for just like 8 hours? Or, should I not visit and just look at things online? I'll have to pay for my own plane ticket...and it's a lot! (For a 17 year old at least)

You could go on the ThickEnvelope discussion boards and see if any current students on there could arrange for an unofficial overnight for you. As for whether its worth it, I know that my visit cemented Chicago as my first choice. There really is just an inexplicable feel you get from a school by visiting, so if you're not sure where Chicago places on your list and you can reasonably afford to visit, I think its a good idea.

I highly recommend you visit-- I think NatalieW is totally right that this school has a feel and an energy that makes a lot of people think "Ding! This is the right place."

College costs a lot of money. A plane ticket is a drop in the bucket.

You can also say "on campus" in International House, which has cheap rates. Tell them you're visiting the U of C as a prospective student.

Kinda curious, but ARE there students who attend without doing the overnight stays or any other visits? Like, O-week in September is their first time setting foot on campus?
