Going to take my packed bags to Washington D.C tomorrow alone. Long 4 hour Bus ride. -.-
But it's going to be fun. First time traveling individually.
Visting the town, college visits, and Cherry Blossom Festival. :)

Unaccompanied minor + Public Transportation + Washington D.C. = potential disaster.

^Washington DC public transportation really isn’t that bad. Much better than New York’s in my brief experience.

What the hell are you talking about?

I’m not a minor and even I wouldn’t get on a bus in DC alone. Or any big city I guess. But I hear DC is quite the ghetto.

^ Uh, no. I’m going away to D.C from NYC. Not riding a Bus in D.C

First off, I’m surprised your parents are even letting you go wander around the 3rd most dangerous city in the country by yourself. Not to mention it’s probably really unfamilar to you.

And Public Transportation has gone to hell in most big cities, especially L.A. (I generalize to DC) People use it for the wrong reasons.

I mean… have fun, but that just seems unbelievably risky…

You’re not reading my thread carefully. I’m traveling TO D.C.

^ Yes… but DC is BIG. You’re going to need to get around somehow if you plan to visit multiple colleges and go to the festival and see the sights etc.

You were referring to traveling by bus in D.C alone, which I am not planning to do. I’m in NY right now and I’m going to have to get to the place tomorrow with coach bus. Is there anything particularly wrong/risky with that?

If I wanted to go visit the festival sights, town, or multiple colleges, one of my sibling is going to drive me around. My family would never let me wander around in an unfamilar city with an unfamiliar transportation.

^ Ah. The coach bus is safe. That’s all good.

And I thought you ment you’d be alone… I didn’t know you had a sibling. There’s nothing wrong with what you’re doing.

Sorry if I kinda came off as a dick =/

Lol, it’s ok. I can forgive you. :)

My brother is picking me up as soon as I get off.

Isn’t HopefulEagle a senior? He is probably going to be on his own in a couple of months anyway.

^ Yeah, but I don’t have the HS stats to go away to a good college.
Wish I could start traveling, but I can’t.

HopefulEagle86: Took my suggestion about the Cherry Blossom Festival?

Cody2010: You must be really sheltered if you think taking public transportation is unsafe. DC really isn’t an unsafe city. Taking the Metro is the quickest and cheapest way to get around DC.

^ dude I apologized. And IMO, public transportation is risky in any big city. I wouldn’t wanna do it alone at my current age. And in some respects, I am “sheltered.” I’ll admit it.

^Haha, my bad. Didn’t mean to attack you. Why do you think public transportation is so risky, though?

^ Because pretty much every time I watch the news I hear crap like this:

^Those are obviously rare cases.

DC Metro is fine! Especially considering you will be taking it during the day in populated areas.

The areas where the cherry blossoms are or where any museums is…it’s fine and safe. Really. I went to the cherry blossom festival last year, and I might go again. It’s fun :)

Aren’t you going to be wondering around Indy alone in a few months?

I go around DC with my brother, who knows the city well, or even with just my much-more-sheltered-than-I, from-the-burbs cousin. I guess they’re both “big scary men” who make 5’1" me look “protect” or something, but legit, it’s not a very scary city.
