CAP program for UT or A&M?

I need help deciding where to go for college! It's stressing me out! I will be majoring in biology and then going into med.

The way I see it, both schools are great. If I choose to go to A&M, they will be covering everything for me. I got just enough financial aid and scholarships. I like A&M but I'm not quite sure if I would love it there. I don't like how it's in a small city. I also heard it's very conservative and full of white people, so me, being Asian will I fit in?

Now about UT... I like UT because of the fact that it's in Austin. There's always something to do in Austin whereas in College Station... not so much. I also like how it's more diverse. I guess I wouldn't mind going to A&M, but I like UT so much more (only because of the city and diversity beats A&M)... but unfortunately, I was CAPed. So I would be going to UTA for a year to meet the requirements, then I'm off to UT. Easy. But I'm afraid UT won't give me a lot of financial aid and scholarships, and money is a big issue for me.

So should I go straight to A&M or do the CAP program for UT? What do you guys think? I've been reading forums about people that were in the same situation as me and stuff already, but I still can't decide. I need help!

A biology major intending to go to medical school needs to be very conscious of costs.

Medical school is expensive, so minimizing undergraduate debt and saving money is important.

Biology majors who do not go to medical or other professional school do not have very good bachelor’s level job and career prospects.

By “covering everything for me” do you mean a full ride or close to it? How does the financial aid offer at Arlington and Austin compare (will Austin tell you what it will give you if you successfully CAP-transfer?)?

Yes, it may seem a little weird that a school with a lot of engineering majors has fewer than 5% Asian American students. But perhaps not really considering the demographics of Texas as a whole.

A&M is a conservative, white school and College Station isn’t necessarily as much fun as Austin. But A&M has 50,000 students. There is always going to be something to do and someone to do it with. With that many students, you’ll find your group of people to hang out with. If money is an issue, you can make the best of it at A&M. What kind of aid are you getting at UTA and do you know how UT handles aid in terms of CAP students?
