How many students per year are given the option to go through the CAP program? I have who has let's say average stats and applied to UT Austin (prob not going to get in) so the best case scenario would be the CAP program. What are her chances? (1670 SAT, 230/700 class rank, a couple of EC, 3 essays, 2 letter of recommendations)

Also is it a good idea to apply to the other UT schools before receiving a CAP decision? (Just doesn't want to pay the admission fee for all the schools) or can she wait until she has been CAP'ed and go through that process.

What the admissions counselor told us at our visit about the CAP program, is that all residents of Tx, if denied admission to Austin, are offered CAP. However, depending on the criteria of the student, may not be offered to all of their system schools that participate in CAP, only one or two. In other words, a student may be offered only UTSA, and not a choice between UTSA, UTA, Tyler, etc. Hopefully we heard this right!
