As decisions are starting to come out I figured I’d make a thread for all those we got CAPed, I participated in the CAP program during the 2015-2016 school year and am happy to answer any questions
http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/1965062-cap-program-p1.html I made a similar post last year also
For a biology path, is CAP too big of a risk since only COLA is guaranteed? Are the chances to transfer from a CAP school into a biology major the same as transferring from another in state university like Texas A&M?
CNS isn’t too competitive to get into (with the exception of CS). Similar to transferring in from another school you just wouldn’t be guaranteed admission (COLA/UGS) if you had above a 3.2
Check last year’s transfer list to see the stats of students who were admitted into various programs
What is CAP program?
@Cgaope Coordinated Admissions Program. Applicants who are denied from UT are offered this program, which allows them to attend another UT campus and receive guaranteed transfer admission (to certain majors only) if they maintain a 3.2 GPA
@awesomesaucee Thank you. I kept seeing reference to being capped and was wondering. I’m not sure I would b e very happy about that.
Is agreeing to cap binding? If I did the cap agreement at one of the schools but I received admission from a different school or a better scholarship/fin aid offer am I still obligated to go to that cap school?
@Texasstudent827 nope
@awesomesaucee thanks
when did you hear back form the university you want to do cap at? I accepted 15 days ago and no one has contacted me yet.
Same here! MyStatus just says that I’ve accepted the agreement.
So as I found out from the utsa admissions officer it technically hasn’t been 10 days from the date I accepted. Tomorrow’s the 10th day, so I think we should expect feedback during next week
Hopefully it’ll be fast! I also signed up for CAP at UTSA. I toured the school last week and they said that the priority deadline for housing is March 9th. It would be nice to have my UTSA id by then.
I know. us cap students have to be quick to apply for housing since we’re not getting too much time to think about it. Are you planning on living on campus , and if so do you know which housing complexes are better to live in?
Yes, I’m planning on living in Laurel. When I went they only had a room for us to see in Alvarez, so I didn’t even get to see Laurel or Chaparral Village. It seems like Chaparral is the most popular, but Laurel has full size beds instead of twin XL. I guess that all of the dorms have their own perks.
Which one was the closest to the university again?
Laurel is closest to the academic building and Chaparral is closest to the dining hall. Honestly it’s not much of a difference, pretty much just a parking lot.
