My daughter was CAPd for UTSA. Does anyone know how many kids were CAPd in total this year? She is a poli science major so
I am thinking this is still a
Very viable path. Welcome feedback please!
According to the web site, CAP is offered to over a 1000 students each year. About a third actually transfer back to UT. It would be a viable path for your daughter considering she wants to major in political science which is in the School of Liberal Arts. I just think she needs to get a 3.25 GPA? and make sure she does the required courses for the transfer. I do not think UTSA is a definite. Last year, the CAP spots at UTSA filled up within minutes. I think UT Arlington is also very popular. Make sure you research all the participating schools and have other viable options besides UTSA. Good luck to your daughter.
@GTAustin utsa spots filled within minutes? Somewhere else I read one hour. Do you have specific knowledge of the numbers? Just wondering since minutes and an hour are totally different. Friday will be a stressful day for those hoping to get utsa.
Go back to last year’s posts pg. 39, by Faithcat," UTSA fills up in 2 minutes". Maybe people were exaggerating, I don’t have any first hand knowledge but that was what people were posting. I also think UTSA keeps decreasing the number the slots they offer which makes it harder. Be ready at exactly the time it opens but also have another back up school.
I’m pretty sure that was an exaggeration. But, yes, it does fill up quickly.
It filled up within 30 minutes 2 years ago when I was going through the process and I believe UTSA lowers the number of CAP student it takes every year so It wouldn’t surprise if it filled up in minutes. UTA tends to be the second best CAP campus
Were there any server issues? I would hate to be in the queue and get knocked off.
@JackM82 What did the interface look like when the contract became available. Do you have to go through multiple screens to first choose the school then access the contract, etc.? Just trying to plan a strategy.
UTSA has been reducing their CAP slots over the last few years with the goal of getting out of CAP altogether. They are working to obtain Tier One status and the CAP students are negatively affecting their graduation rates. It has been reported that the graduation rate would be up to 11 percent higher if these students remained at UTSA. Based on this, it is plausible that the UTSA CAP spots will go quickly and I would plan to log and register as soon as you can.
