CAP question

I was CAPed and I was just wondering: Does everyone that is rejected from Austin offered CAP? If not, is it a large portion of students that are offered CAP?

i was CAPed as well. i know not all are offered CAP, but i'm not quite sure what the percentage is. i've heard, just around, that the CAP students are the non-top-ten percenters that UT wants but isn't allowed to accept by law. are you doing CAP for sure? what campus? i'm not sure yet.

I think I will end up doing CAP at UTSA. It doesn't seem too bad

All Texas students who are rejected are given a CAP offer.

Each and every one.

@theloneranger - Why are you so sure of this? Is this printed policy somewhere? I was told of some Texas students who were out right rejected - not offered CAP. I don't know any details, though.

That's not true. It's stated in their document "How UT Evaluates non-top ten students" that all students are either admitted to fall, admitted to summer, or given a CAP offer.

Don't get me wrong, CAP is an amazing program, but it is a rejection from the university. UT is just incredibly kind that they give everyone a second chance (knowing most offered won't take it up, and many who do either won't get a 3.2 or will choose not to come).

i just committed to cap at utsa next year and i heard the laurel village is really nice - does anyone know if it's too late to get a dorm there?

it shouldnt be too late....they have a CAP session this weekend with tours of the campus and info on the CAP...you should go

i'm pretty sure there's such thing as rejection. there's a thread on here that a rejected student posted awhile back.. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/479436-does-means-rejection.html

anyway, if i do UTSA, i still haven't decided yet, i'd like to stay at laurel village as well. i heard that is the best place to stay. overall, stay away from the only "true dorm" building. it sucks. i read an article last year that said laurel filled up in april.. so i'm hoping it's not full by the time i decide.

IMPLEMENTATION AND RESULTS OF THE TEXAS AUTOMATIC ADMISSIONS LAW (HB 588) at THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN (dated October 27, 2007)

Texas resident applicants are either admitted, “cascaded” to their second choice of major, offered Summer Freshman Admission, or offered the Coordinated Admission Program (CAP) at a UT System component school. Thus, Texas residents submitting a completed entering freshman application by published deadlines are not denied admission to UT Austin.

Non-residents are either admitted or denied.
