So I was at UT this morning to take the tour, and as the group was about to start the presentation or whatever, I got called into the director's office. Apparently the CAP folks get a separate presentation at this point because we don't need to hear about the next steps and such, but this time I happened to be the only CAP student there. So we got to talking, and my SAT score came up and got his attention, and he called up my file to see why I wasn't admitted. He showed me the chart that they use to determine admission, and even though I was barely below the first quarter of my class when I applied, with a 1540 SAT I was put in the highest category academically on the chart. I also had top scores on the essays, but I wasn't admitted because my extra curriculars were both lacking and poorly explained on the online application. So after talking to him it became evident that I could make some amendments to my application and update my transcript (I moved to the first quarter) and I might get accepted to the summer freshman class! Other than to see if anyone could make some sense out of this situation, I guess I posted this to show that UT looks at your extra curriculars and essays very closely instead of just admitting the top 11% then the top 12% etc, and also that while rare, appeals are apparently not exclusive to people who got in the top 10% after admission deadline. All in all a pretty lucky day for me I'd say. I'm going to go write my appeal right the heck now and turn it in tomorrow, and I'll get my decision by next week along with an extension for the CAP deadline if I don't win.

That's the spirit! Go for it! I'm right behind you!

Because I'm also filing an appeal too wink :D

Wow, thisisDavid, Good luck!!! You too Sedna!
