CAP Students/Possible Transfer Question

My child is a CAP student this fall at UTSA. She has 22 hours of college credit from high school so technically she could apply to UT as a transfer student for the Spring term? Do you know anyone that has done this successfully?

Admittedly there are pros and cons to this, but was wondering....

She could if she makes the GPA for the fall. Why not if you have the credits. But are those 22 hours “acceptable” grades? It’s a lot harder to transfer than to just do CAP and get the 3.2.

Maybe this isn’t answering your question but I suggest that she complete the CAP Program at UTSA and take all the required pre-reqs and maintain a high GPA so she can get into the school of her choice.

I.G. ~ Suppose she wants to go to McCombs, so she would take the required pre-reqs such as CALC I & II, Macro/Micro, etc, maintain a high GPA maybe a 3.9, this would be a good way to get in.

I agree that staying at UTSA to help her get into McCombs (her goal) might be her best choice. It just never occured to either of us that transferring at mid-year would be an option.

The 22 hours are acceptable to UT as they are already listed on her UTSA transcript as credit.

Just fyi, McCombs does not accept spring admits or transfers, she would have to go into another major, then apply for internal transfer the next fall.

good luck!!

Yes, she could not transfer directly into McCombs anyway as she would not have both calcs and both econs complete by winter. She would just apply to transfer to general studies in January.

My son applied for aerospace/civil engineering as first and second choices. He got into wait-list and CAP is offered.

Is there a way to chage the mojor now and try getting into UTA?

No. Undergraduate Studies is automatically the 3rd choice. If he gets in through the waitlist, it will probably be into UGS.
