CAP vs Transfer

My dream major is biomedical engineering, but it is one of the toughest to get into at UT Austin, especially for me since I'm not in top 8%. So should I:
1) get into CAP
2) go to A&M for freshman year and then transfer to UT Austin.
I also want to know how competitive it is to transfer to UT Austin with a major like BME. Thanks in advance.

As I understand it (and I may be wrong) CAP guarantees admission if you meet the requirements where as transfer students may have outstanding grades and still not be accepted. In both cases, you’re going to have to get good grades. If you don’t get the minimum gpa in CAP (and I think something like 50% don’t) you’re stuck at that school. If you don’t get the grades at A&M to transfer, you’re staying at A&M. I would go to the school you would be most happy at if you don’t get into UT.

Thanks sadilly! Now i’m wondering what topics to write about for my applytexas essay topic B…any suggestions/warnings??
