I'm pretty curious to what classes you guys are going to be taking this fall and spring while you are in the Cap program.

I am taking
General Chemistry I
General Chemistry II
Macroeconomics
Microeconomics
Physics I
Physics II
Cal I
Cal I

I want to transfer hopefully into my first major (Chemical Engineering) and if I don't I could always choose Chemistry and then internally transfer into the engineering college.

Dude… you’re going to kill yourself and not get into UT if you do that schedule. I mean it’s possible, but it’s going to be hard. When I was a CAP student, ALL the CAP students I knew took the easiest classes to ensure they got into UT. I was in Chemistry first semester, but I dropped out because I didn’t want to risk my chances at my goal. Trust me, please. PLEASE. Take some easier classes. Don’t stack all your hard ones this year. Remember, you do have electives to take care of to for graduation requirements. History requirements, english requirements, etc etc. Maybe take only Cal I, Macro and Micro. Maybe even throw in Chemistry if you’re that good at it. But don’t do all 4 of those classes.

If you think you can handle it, go ahead. But trust me, you’re going to be the only CAP student on campus doing that kind of load. Good luck, hope you make it. I just did with a 3.8 GPA!

This is what I took:

Fall 2011
English 1 (Requirement for UT)
Chemistry (Dropped in October)
Pre-Calculus 1 (Idk why I took this honestly. Got a B in it…)
Psychology (Social Sciences Requirement)
Government 1 (Requirement for UT)

Spring 2012
Calculus 1 (Requirement for UT)
Government 2 (Requirement for UT)
Theater (Arts Requirement_
Music Appreciation (Elective Requirement ftw!)
Macroeconomics
History 2 (Requirement for UT)

Thanks for the advice! I really wish I could take easier classes but I have already taken all my basics while I was in high school.
I heard it was going to be hard but I think I can make it, I am going give it my my all :D. I am currently studying for Cal and Chem and am planning on reviewing physics before i take it too so I hope that helps me. Chem seems fun but the physics I am reviewing is not calculus base so I am not sure If i am going to have a hard time with physics.

oh and Congratulations! Have fun and hopefully I’ll be there soon too.

Wow haha, I’m about to be a CAP student, and I also plan on majoring in Chemical Engineering. Which CAP school are you going to? I’m going to UT Arlington.

I intend on taking:
Chemistry or Chemistry for Engineering Students I
Chemistry II
Physics or Physics for Engineering I
Physics or Physics for Engineering II
Calculus II
Calculus III
History or Gov I
History or Gov II

I’m planning on starting with Calculus II because I’m planning on getting Cal I credit with my CLEP Exam, so that I don’t get super behind once I get into UT. I’m going to either take History or Government for my fourth class, I haven’t decided yet.

I wasn’t a CAP student, but I was friends with some and attended UTSA along side them. I would highly recommend NOT doing the “easy A classes” route if you’re wanting to get into Chemical Engineering. Take a strong course load of technical work that indicates you’re a good student. I got into Architectural Engineering after a year at UTSA (I found out about my acceptance two days ago), and took the following:

FALL
Macroeconomics
Writing Comp I
History of Architecture
Calculus III
History

SPRINGS
General Chemistry I
Engineering Physics I & Lab
Differential Equations I
Linear Algebra
Environmental Science
