Hello everyone!

Man, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted on these boards

Basically my story is this: I eventually went to a state school (with a good theatre program - we have a few alums who have been on Broadway) because it was the absolute only thing I could afford, and am now a sophomore/rising junior in Theatre and Communications with a minor in voice. It was frustrating because I got into a few other schools, but I really didn’t want to leave college with an over $100,000 debt. So, I went and am now involved in acting and actually a lot of stage management as well.

I have a pretty sizable resume, but not large by any means. My biggest problem with my school is this: They do a musical every 2-3 years. They did one this year when I was required to work backstage in something else (it was completely unavoidable, so I (sadly) didn’t even audition), and then the next one they will do the semester after I graduate. I do not have the money/transportation to do any musical stuff outside of my school. Therefore, when I graduate I will have maybe like a few smaller cabaret things on my resume and a bunch of backstage work and straight theatre.

While this is not my ideal, there really is not a lot I can do about it. So, therefore, I’m trying to get 1-2 jobs this summer and I’m basically just going to pocket everything so I can use it towards the program.

Now that I’ve kind of explained to you about what I’ve had to do, my questions are these:

1) I saw there was no audition - can parents/alumni tell me the best way to get into this program aside from the audition?

2) Since there is no audition, how many people are accepted?

3) How will they look at no musical theatre experience on my resume? Is there any way I could make up for this?

4) Will this be a good replacement on my resume for when I graduate? I was thinking about going into graduate school for Musical Theatre, and thought that this might be a great way to try to get my foot in the door for that.

5) Please tell me any other information you have about this program. I’ve read a lot about the pre-college program, but haven’t had a chance to really learn about this one.

Thank you!!
