I was accepted to university of South Carolina as a capstone scholar. I like the program itself, but I hate the dorms you have to live in for it. They’re just ugly and dim and honestly pretty creepy. I’d much rather live in one of the other dorms nearbye so I’d still be close enough to participate but not actually live in the capstone building. The only worry I have tho is that if I live in another dorm, I won’t get to be as social with the other capstone people and I’ll be left out. Does anyone have any experience with the capstone scholars at USC? Do you think living in a different dorm is a good idea?
We visited yesterday, attending the Capstone Scholars tour. Since they said that most of the Capstone Sophomores live off campus, yet that they are still involved, it must not be imperative to live there. You would just have to make a point to be around. Make a couple of good friends that live in the dorm.
also, try posting in the University of South Carolina forum.
My D doesn’t live in Capstone but had a few friends that lived there. She really liked visiting and thought there was lot more socializing than in her dorm. It might be worth sacrificing aesthetics for the connections you’ll make. And it’s only for a year; as @scmom2017 noted, almost everyone moves off campus 2nd year.
