Capstone Move in Day---Here comes the masses!

How was move in day for everyone? Be prepared to wait for the elevators at Capstone. Students need to present their Carolina Card to receive keys to room and must do a thorough room inspection before moving in. Carts and large bins can be borrowed for loading and moving your stuff. Thanks to the person who recommended a mallet and hammer to knock the steel bed frame out of its wooden posts so we could raise D's bed to highest settings.
You can park in the immediate Capstone parking lot next the dorm for about 30 minutes while you unload stuff and later move it to a street spot. Yesterday the rooms were quite cool and that helped with the hot weather. Hope it stays that way for everyone.
Picked up a cheap rug at Target because the floor looked so bare and cold without something. I read in the local paper that almost 7000 students will descend on the USC campus this weekend!!!

We arrived at 8 am, and everything went very smoothly. Dorms were well air conditioned, staff was friendly and helpful. Big coolers full of cold water bottles were so nice! Very smooth day. You were right about that bed in the highest position - tons of room under there! Son has a corner room in Capstone, and the rooms are smaller than the suite rooms, but he thought the private bath was worth the trade off.

I also arrived at 8 am and was very surprised (and relieved) at how smooth everything went. I was done everything by about 10. Later on in the day, though, I could tell that things were picking up and the lines for the elevator were getting longer and longer. I was so happy that my "move-in time" was early in the day. All in all, it was a very smooth and eexciting day.

Greenville-- the thought of four people sharing one bath requires some diplomatic skills to manage. D has corner room with the basin/mirror in the bathroom. Hallway mirror too far from her make-up! Mom had to buy a stand mirror so she can do makeup in the morning while roommate in the bathroom. I am sure parents of guys do not have any such problems.
I see there are entries from two early bird 8 am. move ins, how about later in the day? The dorm staff was pretty organized controlling who went into elevators and packing in riders going to similar floors.

S moved into Woodrow Saturday (upperclass Honors apts on the Horseshoe)
No elevators, third floor walk up. It was hot wasnt it?
Luckily most of his buddies had moved in Friday so they all helped us.No free water or helpers over at our locale!!
S's balcony faces Greene St and the Russell House..in fact if he looks stright down,he sees the Gamecock painted on the street...a birds eye view of all activity!
They already have had a leak under the kitchen sink, no cold water in the shower and the cable works in the bedrooms but not the living room !!!

Wow great location! Now if someone's handy around the house things would be smooth sailing.

the fixit people came really fast for both water issues. cable will probably take longer! s seems to think the fixers respond faster to a phone call to the messages left on their website.
