Capstone question

Weird question...is toilet paper provided in Capstone or do the students need to provide their own? Just want to make sure all the bases are covered! Thanks!

You have to supply your own paper goods… and clean your own bathroom.

Wow… I knew they had to clean their own bathroom- or I think I read where housekeeping comes once every 2 weeks but I had no idea you need to supply your own paper products. Glad I saw this post!

It’s not a big deal - the Food Lion is a 5 minute walk from the dorm. With 4 of you sharing a bathroom, the cost will be minimal.

There was no housekeeping last year, DD and her suitemates had to clean the bathroom themselves. Or not clean it, which might be closer to what actually happened… ;)

In the past housekeeping cleaned the shared baths in the some suite-style dorms twice a month. I think the idea is housing has found that they are better maintained that way (I guess saves $ in long run). However it’s not perfect since they let you know they’re coming and you have to have all personal items out of shower and around sink or they won’t clean. So residents still have to do some cleaning. I don’t see Capstone on the list and they don’t do apartment style dorms either. Obviously housekeeping is responsible for hall baths.

Funny story - other D was in a campus apt at another school and at the beginning of the year the school supplied a huge box of toilet paper. It was the worst single ply ever and to my knowledge it was all still there when they left!

scmom12 - do you know if Honors dorm is on the housekeeping list? I shutter to think what it would look like if there isn’t “some help”

Yes, the new dorms like honors and redone Patterson are on there plus a few others (I’m guessing ones with redone baths?). D was in honors and usually got it cleaned but every now and then they missed the notification email or someone didn’t remove personal stuff from sink/shower and it didn’t get done.

For the toilet paper… Some people go to the common bathrooms in the dorms and steal the toilet paper from there. I lived in Maxcy freshman year and I think there were three common bathrooms for the building, so it happened often.

As for bathroom cleaning, I’ve never lived in a dorm where that happened (the school coming in and cleaning) and it really was never an issue. I even went over to guy’s dorms/apartments, and pretty much everyone had tolerable living conditions. haha

They don’t clean the capstone bathrooms.

Although there are nice bathrooms on the first and 17th floors with free toilet paper to use!!!

I loved being in Capstone last year, but I had the suitemates from hell. They never cleaned (even after puking in the toilet night after night). They would have all their friends over at 3 am and party and be loud, and just wern’t considerate at all of my roommate and I.

My suggestion. Work out a cleaning schedule amongst the 4 people in the suite, and make people to stick to it! Don’t expect everyone to be respectful

Nc7777… Just wondering… Do they ever crackdown with the partying in capstone??? I’ve heard so many things about it and my d has seen a lot mentioned as well. My older d had to deAl with a lot of what u describe at another college, but eventually the kids knew they’d get strikes against them if they were too loud etc.My older d had a freshman year from hell too. And seemed to be in a huge dorm full of crazy over- the- top partiers who were sick all the time, missing class etc. Thankfully, things improved sophomore year… I’m just praying that my freshman d who’s in capstone doesn’t have a year like that! She s not into that at all. So far she seems to be on same page as her roommate and suitemates which is good… I don’t get how the big partiers keep their scholarships!

They kind of crackdown on it. They will issue fines and warnings, but it still goes on (my RM was never on the floor). Capstone has one of the biggest reputation on campus as the “party” dorm. That said, if you are not in to the party scene or don’t want to act like an idiot and drink/smoke in your own dorm room, then there are plenty of people out there that don’t party all the time.

I love a good a party, but i wasn’t stupid enough to do it a dorm room! Either go out to a bar or a friend’s apartment for that kind of thing.

I know of only 2-3 that were actually suspended or kicked out for excessive partying in Capstone. And most people do retain their scholarships because a 3.0 freshman year at Carolina is very easy to obtain!!! (Unless you’re an engineering major)

/\ I’m keeping my fingers crossed she s on one of the calmer floors… Hopefully with some nursing students since they all need a lot higher then a 3.0.

I’m with you, NJMOM3! My D and her roommate are not partyers either and I’m praying her suitemates won’t be and that she is on a calm hall!

Another Capstone question…do the laundry machines take quarters only or can you use the Carolina card?

/\That s good to hear!! I’m praying it all works out! I asked my d about the laundry room and she wasn’t sure either.

Yes, you can use the Carolina card.
