Capstone Scholars Day: Who's attending?

Yeah McFarland on a Saturday morning shouldn’t be too bad, but seriously, McFarland is one of the worst planned roads I’ve ever been on. It’s awful.

^^^^

LOL…then you haven’t been on many roads in California. LOL

When I leave the hotel room Saturday morning, my GPS will tell me when to turn left and right. That’s my route…LOL

LOL…

Thank goodness for GPS’s. They saved us one night when we got lost in the middle of nowhere and had no idea of which direction to proceed.

You can tell who’s the dads and who’s the moms on these directions posts! LOL! Just joking, not meaning to insult anyone.

I’m not worried right now about where the train station is, where the walmart or best buy. I just want to get to Capstone on time!

Good point about GPS not having streets. Have encountered that on Mapquest.

Are there any roads closed/construction that we should be worried about, that won’t show up on those trusty GPS?

Thanks for the AAA point. I’m going to call them this morning.

On a funny note, daddy told son that he had better be open minded about this visit, as he’s giving up watching the Saints playoff to attend this event. Was really hoping the game would be Saturday night or Sunday.

At least we won’t have to deal with Saints traffic coming home on Sunday.

Are there any roads closed/construction that we should be worried about, that won’t show up on those trusty GPS?

On University Drive (west of the campus) there is construction going on in the Downtown area. That’s why I tell people to enter from the east side…via McFarland Blvd.

==construction Downtown = The Strip = Campus = conf ctr = University Dr = McF entrance

Part of Bryant Drive is closed due to stadium construction. If you follow the downtown route, don’t get on Bryant Drive if the GPS tells you to. University Blvd. is fine to use now.

First off, thanks so much, SEA-tide, for the Triple A suggestion. Went by there and got a GA/AL map and a Triptik for home to hotel, hotel to Conference Center and hotel to Saint Francis. The Triptik has easy to read pages with surrounding streets along the routes, much easier to read than a map.

Don’t know what route we’ll take yet, though. Will print up this thread and the campus tour threads before we leave to have handy for reference. Thank you for the heads up on construction. We look forward to seeing all of you this weekend.

have fun! :)

^^ not for nothing Montegut, but we read every visiting thread and had maps ready, route suggestions, GPA from the hotel and all that. Coming from outside Chicago we were prepared for anything. Turns out Tuscaloosa (and the drive in from the airport) couldn’t be any simpler to navigate if you tried.
Doesn’t hurt to be prepared but you may be surprised how simple it is to get around out there :)

As my husband tells me, I always have to “prelive the crisis”.

^borrowing trouble is how my DH puts it! :)

Have to add that one to the list. Have made many midwestern friends through these forums, and surprised to learn that they have just as many colloquialisms as southerners do. Sorry to hijack the thread, guys. Back on topic.
