D received Capstone invite a few days ago. To me, the Dad, it looks like a dream ticket: Capstone, McKissick, and Legacy.

I just got the Capstone scholarship and was wondering if you would recommend my living in Capstone. What are the benefits?

brittanyx08... lots of folks will probably chime in on the benefits of capstone (large room, cafeteria, etc...). However, my D went down for scholars day and compared capstone with preston residential college. She decided that preston was where she wants to live. Her words... dorm is nicer, furniture is better, room size seems bigger, activities seem really fun, seemed like a more close-knit community, great location (behind horseshoe), lots of interaction with faculty (one couple lives in the dorm), their own cafeteria, etc.... You must apply and be accepted to live there. I believe they accept around 50 freshmen per year. FYI... noticed in your previous post that you are interested in journalism. That is what my D plans to major in also.

Good quality rooms that are large, great cafeteria downstairs, suite style. My floor ended up being a bunch of cool people, so that made it better too.

if you can't go visit in person, take a look at the Capstone pages on the USC website. Its a great dorm/great program, with many benefits to take advantage of.
Some people love Preston, some don't..they think its a little insular.
But thats the beauty of the residential system..there's different living arrangements to fit different wants and needs.

My D loved living in Capstone. They have a great eating place down stairs which is really convenient, the rooms are huge and you only share a bath with your other two suite mates;it is also very convenient to where many first year classes are.

brittany,
My son is finishing his freshman year in Capstone. One thing he enjoyed is that they house students together by major as much as possible. Everyone on his floor was an engineering major, so he got to know people right away that were in his classes. Also made it easy to study together and people shared common interests. I think you would be pleased with the suite style rooms and the very good cafeteria downstairs. Capstone sealed the deal for my son.
