I was wondering if it's good to have a car with you at Duke. I know that at universities like Penn it's a really bad idea but would it be more inconvenient than convenient to own a car at Duke?

You could really go either way with it. I'm a freshman and do not have car at Duke. While there are times I wished I had a car, I have had a great time at Duke nonetheless. There are always buses running between campuses so you don't have to worry about getting around on campus. The problem comes when you want to go somewhere off campus. If you have a car, you'll be able to go whenever you want (and probably make friends becuz of your car). If you do not have a car, you will only be able to go off-campus when one of your friends with a car wants to go out. And you have to think about the cost of gas too. So basically, it's up to you. Yes, it's more convenient with a car, but it's not absolutely necessary. Hope this helps.

"and probably make friends becuz of your car"

LOL, this is a reason you DON'T want a car.

I think a car's only worth it if/when you move off-campus.

hahah that was meant as a joke....

my friend has a car and she keeps saying it's the only reason people are nice to her..which isnt true but that's how she gets. lol
