Car May Be Towed

So the building my school is in has two schools in it. Since it is next to a neighborhood a lot of the time the traffic is insane. Class starts at 7:35, and I had arrived at school at 7:19 today. The cars in front of me were all parents blocking the school lot where I am supposed to park. I had been waiting there for a out 10 minutes. The line had not moved and it was 7:30. I inched out a little to the opposite side of the road, checked to see if anyone was coming and no one came. I decided to go for it and I safely made it into my school lot. A teacher in the other building saw me and said give me your parking pass. He didn’t ask for my name he just commanded me. The girl behind me also did the same thing and got her pass taken. I paid for that pass and now I run the risk of being towed. My friend robert did the same thing and he got a verbal warning. Im going to talk to my administrator in about 20 minutes, how should I approach this. I know I was in the wrong

Approach it truthfully. I know I was in the wrong. I was afraid I was going to be late to class and I made a mistake. It won’t happen again. I think honesty is best.

Thank you so much!

I would get your parents involved if the school threatens to tow and impound your car. My guess is they’d suspend your parking privileges. You should frame it as the schools need to deal with the traffic flow issues but that may come off wrong if you do it now. Maybe get student government or even your local police department working on it. It sounds like this is a very tempting shortcut if kids have to get to school a half hour early to avoid traffic.

Is administration aware of the drop off/parking issues? I know at our hs, parents dropping off became a big issue. There were two entrance doors, one at the beginning of the driveway and the main door much farther down. Parents would pull into the drive a few feet and stop and drop off instead of pulling all the way down to drop off. This caused traffic to back up even more than necessary. It became the assistant principals job to monitor traffic at the start and the end of school. When the lot became icy, the drivers ed teachers joined him to help slow down traffic and keep it moving. When necessary the resource officer would issue tickets such as the kid doing donuts in the parking lot until he flipped his truck like a turtle on it’s back.
