Car question

If i live offcampus and have parking provided to me there... does it cost me money to drive to school and park my car close to X Hall so during class? I hope i don't need some kind of pass for that...

yes you would have to get a pass ($600 for a year) to park on campus for events and what not. But I don't see why would would need to bring your car on campus to park because everything is walkable and no one drives to class. Also, there are some spots on campus (none near classes except behind Willard Straight and at Bailey Hall) that you can park at for free or at a meter.

there's a few spots that can be sniped where you can park at class. I managed to get through all of second semester last year without a single ticket and i walked to very, very few classes.

These take a while to find.

eh, I just walk my butt up to campus. Keeps me somewhat in shape.

i don't think parking near classrooms are doable. I think even the faculty park further than the dorms and then walk or take the TCAT up.

thanks guys... do any of you know how far highland road is from campus- what if i keep a bike? do buses run into campus from there?

thanks in advance

there's two highlands - one on north campus one in collegetown... (collegetown is highland place)

highland road is the one im concerned with... north of campus.

well you are right up near the freshman dorms. it is like 10 mins if you take the bebe lake bridge to get to the ag quad, 15 to get to arts quad over thurston bridge, 20ish to get to engineering quad. its not that bad though.

and the parking that cornellstudent09 refers to on campus is for the freshmen and its located on north campus. they dont give permits closer than that. you can definately park on campus, but since the thurston bridge is closed, it would be a pain to take the detour and deal with pedestrian traffic to get to class.

there are definately spots to park on campus, you just have to be smart about it, and know where to look.
