<p>I'm a CA resident and I'm going to be taking my car to duke. I was just wondering if I need to register it in NC and if so, do I need to be a resident in order to register my car there.</p>

<p>You don't need to register in North Carolina. You see license plates from just about every state when you walk through student parking lots. It's kind of neat.</p>
<p>yeah...i'll be driving out from san diego next summer.....good god.</p>
<p>anyways, i agree, all you'll need is a parking permit from duke.</p>
