Just sharing this solution which saved me a bunch.
Need a car for my son for 33 days while doing an internship at a hospital local to his College. Hertz and a few others will rent to the 20-25 age group (he is 20) but they all pretty much want $40/day on top of the normal rental rate. Ouch, an extra $1300!

Googled around and realised that as a member of AAA there is a Hertz deal where the young driver fee is waived if the driver has their own AA card. As a member on my AAA all the family do, so I booked this at $834 all in (on my insurance).
He picked up the car today, showed AAA card, license and so it is good to go as advertised.
Might help someone out, as it is slightly less painful this way.
All the best,
RCD.
My insurance company offers very good rates on major brand auto rentals (Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz) as much as 25% off. Additionally, many fees are waived including underage 25 driver’s fees and additional drivers fees. So, check to see if you insurance company has something similar.
This is interesting. I probably have to have my 21 year old drive me and S17 to college next month because H refuses to. We don’t have a car safe enough to make the trip so I was preparing to rent and pay through the nose. This is a great possibility and I have no problem adding him to my premium AAA membership and then renting through Hertz. This is now on my list to check into.
This happened with my girlfriend and I! We are both 23 and she’s a triple A member. She booked with hertz and her triple A membership. Not only was her fee waived, but we didn’t end up paying to add me as an additional driver!!!
So much $$ saved.
