I'm bringing my car down to SD with me and I just started hearing about car theft being fairly common. Is this something I should be worried about? I'm gonna try not to leave my car sitting in the same spot for days of course but I'm sure there will be times when I have to leave it. I am living on campus at the Village so I was wondering if there were any safer lots to park at or what not.

It's a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe so it's not a total beater but I heard car theft is kinda common out there. What should I do?

It’s not THAT common! More common is theft of valuables from cars because people are dumb and leave their purses and laptops visible on the seats. Just keep it locked and it’ll most likely be fine. There’s really not a whole lot you can do hahaha

FWIW, Honda Accord has always been the most popular stolen cars in the US due to “globalization.” If your auto insurance has comprehensive coverage, you’re ok.

Don’t keep valuable stuff in your car that’s easily viewable. Like if you have a GPS or an iPod in your car, keep it out of sight. Put it in a drawer in your car or something. And always lock your car. If it gets stolen though, at least you have insurance! :D

Better have a good insurance plan or you’ll be footing the bill yourself… FYI geico sucks epic ballz cause ~billionaire~ (hmm I wonder why?) warren buffet owns it…

Honestly the campus parking lots are pretty safe…or at least I think so. No one I know has had anything happened to their cars while on campus. Off campus though is a different story.
