Will I need a car if I live on campus? I'd like to discover the rest of LA too, is this possible using public transportation? By the way, is it easy to go to the beach from USC using public transportation?

I'm an international (European) student with a valid driver's license, I'm turning 23 this summer. Will I be able to use my driver's license or do I need something else?

Thanks!!!!!!

hahahhaha yes you will need a car if you dont want to get mugged. In a way its kind of like midevil times. Usc is the castle protected by its walls. And the surrounding are the poverty stricken. Usc is in south central L.A need i say more

hey thanks

i already knew that usc is situated in a rough neighbourhood, but i figured the public transportation system might be good enough to survive without a car, but apparently not :)

i can't wait till august!!!!!!

lilybel- a car is definitely not necessary for having a good time, but it is extremely helpful. All you need are friends with cars, and you can explore just fine. If you are able to easily bring a car, then I say definitely go for it.

Public transportation is not heavily used by students, but I've taken buses to UCLA and to the public library downtown, so it's do-able if you want to do it. I don't know how long it would take to get to the beach using the bus.

And P.S.- rpv is exaggerating the situation
P.P.S.- I'm glad you're excited!

Thanks Uschicka!

Great!

By the way, I didn't know Uschi(cka) was a common (nick)name in the States. There's also an Uschikazz on the board I think. My sister's name is Uschi and it's a very rare name here in Belgium. I heard it's a quite common nickname for Ursula in Germany though.

Hmm... well, my screenname on here, really is: USC, as in the school, combined with chicka. I've never seen the name Uschi in the US before, but maybe that's just me.

that makes more sense :)

maybe a good idea for a girl's name for people who really like usc
