Any idea when PO Boxes are issued? Can we continue to send mail to the address we've been using? Also, I got a letter from my son, sounding desperate for an iron! Can we mail stuff like that...is it sold at the school store? Any recommendations would be great.
Thanks!

I called the admissions and they transferred me to the mail room.

Remember that they are not PO Box #.

These are Box numbers to be used internally at USMMA.

Maybe someone else could post the phone number and/email to the Mail Room.

Good luck,

You can still mail with out a box number for awhile. The mail room people will tell your son/daughter that they need to tell you what it is when they are starting to upset that it is not there, but I think they will still put it in the correct box.

I don't remember there being irons at the ship's store, but there might be.

You can mail or send through UPS/FedEx/whatever you want to send as long as you are willing to pay the postage. We ordered on-line a fan his first year and had it shipped directly to him. We have also sent, cakes, books, notebooks on Chemistry, etc. You are just limited by your money and the space in their room.

Forgot to mention:

If UPS/etc tries to say they can't mail to a PO box, tell them it is not a PO box. It is a box in a school mail room where the mail room people sign for the package and put a slip in the box for it to be picked up.

The rooms are really bare...one thing they are permitted to use to "warm up" the place is a state flag. My son ordered a N.Y. state flag from a webite that also sent him a USMMA desk top size flag. Some Parents' Associations provide links to order flags, or just Google it. It might be a nice surprise from home for your plebe candidate.

P.S. This might only be true after Acceptance Day...I don't remember.

Someone who has been there recently can correct me if I'm wrong, but Irons have always been sold in the ship's store. Pretty much anything a plebe "really" needs can be bought there.

kp2001--As far as I know, pretty much everything that they need is in the ship's store.

ahhh, guys the ship store is closed. Walked by there yesterday and it was locked up tight and did not look to me like it would open. The NEX is getting close to being done, but not sure when that will open. If you need to send an Iron, I suggest doing what I did last year.........internet shopping is amazing!

My son said he did his shopping today and got most everything he needed. Said almost everything was marked down and saved big! Maybe they are opening it at certain times for them??

Does anyone know when they can have their state flag? She received one at her graduation from an alumni...thought it was a great gift!

Received email from DS last night asking for some school supplies...said store was out of everything. People at post office recognize us now!

LOL! I remember that. Many of us from last year bonded with our mailmen. Who was it that was stalking theirs and had even planted their beach chair by the mailbox? Zonker - was it you?

Good thing I didn't plant my chair by the mailman...I'd still be waiting for my first letter!
