Care Packages

Any recommendations for Care Pkgs? DS has been asking for snacks. Know of any mail order companies that ship guilty goodies?

We live overseas, so because of U.S. Customs, not practical to mail our own home-baked cookies.

I order through amazon.com–use subscribe and save for free shipping and a discount. Favorites so far have been various kinds of granola bars and pop tarts and drink mix to put in the water bottle. You have to buy by the case, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem!

Cheryl’s has amazing buttcream frosted cookies which my roommate and I love. they also sell brownies and cookies. a little expensive, but worth it

thanks for the tips!

Okay, I have to mention this . . . just discovered this summer:

[il laboratorio del gelato](http://www.laboratoriodelgelato.com/index.html)

Because dry ice has to be included in every shipment and, of course, shipping must be expedited, it’s not inexpensive . . . . but for a once a year (perhaps birthday?) really special treat, this has to be it!

If you need immediate (or nearly immediate) shipping, follow the link for “Products” –> “Gift Packs.” That will give you a limited list of flavors that are always available for shipping. But if you can plan a bit more in advance, you can select from any of the dozens (and dozens and dozens!) of options they have listed under “Flavors.” The minimum order is four 18-ounce containers . . . but if that isn’t enough for “student plus close circle of friends,” you can get as many more as you need.

Also highly recommended for first-year parents who are having difficulty making the adjustment to their student away at boarding school. :)

P.S. For those of you whose students are already in Italy, please ignore this post. ;)

I’ve had success with the following and would highly recommend any of them:

[Harry and David Gourmet Gifts, Gift Baskets, Fresh Fruit Gifts, Gourmet Chocolates and Monthly Gift Clubs.](http://www.harryanddavid.com/gifts/store/home___)

[Loralie’s Brownies - Homemade Brownies, Fudgies, Fudge, Gift Towers and Confections](http://www.loraliesbrownies.com/shipping.html)

[Fat Witch Bakery | New York’s Legendary Brownie](<a href=“Fat Witch | New York City's Legendary Brownie”>http://www.fatwitch.com/)

[Chocolates & Chocolate Gifts | See’s Candies](<a href=“Candies & Chocolates Online | Candy Store | See's Candies”>Candies & Chocolates Online | Candy Store | See's Candies)

Wow, you Mamas put me to shame with those fabulous care packages! My boy would wolf the whole think down in 20 minutes though…so we go for quantity over quality (though I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the variety of organic and specialty items that I can get through Amazon).

The dry ice would be a gift in itself, I bet!

Garrett Popcorn Company ([Gourmet Popcorn | Corporate Gifts & More | Garrett Popcorn Shops](http://www.garrettpopcorn.com))

Crumbs bake shop ([Cupcakes - Crumbs Bake Shop - Chocolate Cupcake, Red Velvet Cupcakes, Cupcake Delivery](http://www.crumbs.com))

Daisy Cakes (ilovedaisycakes.com)

I also just purchased a plastic pumpkin at Target for $1 and filled it with Halloween candy to mail to my daughter.

I just gained ten pounds reading this thread. Sigh.

I love the pumpkin idea:)

Two more are: Gingerbread Construction Company and Aunt Leah’s Fudge.

My kids tell me I am the queen of care packages and I am quite proud of that. If that’s my 15 minutes, it’ll do. But one thing I hadn’t planned on with younger sibling is ants. Where we live there are few ants (or mosquitoes for that matter). As my husband jokingly said when s was complaining about how quickly ants show up “even the bugs are smarter in that part of the country.” So recent package contained all small packets from Costco purchases. Too much packaging but fewer ants. Hard to be an environmentally conscious queen of care packages :).
