Hi,

So I have been struggling a LOT with my next steps as a relatively recent graduate with a degree in Biochemistry. I have done so much career research and exploration, and I have found nothing to be inspiring thus far. I have explored (and explored I mean actually done my research, talked/shadowed professionals, and volunteered/ been in the environment) many typical career paths with biology, such as medicine, dental, pharm, optometry, etc. I have also looked at some non-traditional paths such as becoming a patent lawyer, bioinformatics, etc, but I have not found these paths to be inspiring or enticing in any way. I would not say I am the best in programming or public speaking skills (although I am decent talking 1 on 1 professionally).

I was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas/ advice on "off-the-beaten" career paths which may not be as prominent for a graduate with a BS in biology. I have been finding it difficult to obtain any opportunities outside of research/lab jobs, because that would be all I am really qualified for( and it is also the only kind of working experience I had in college, besides working at nordstroms). I am interested in something that would allow me to be more creative/ hands-on in my work, work in teams, and work on a variety of different tasks that may reduce repetitive work. I know I may be asking for a lot, but my career is very important to me, and I feel like it really plays a large role in a person's life.

Any advice on unique career paths which I may be able to leverage my BS biology degree in, or how I can get my foot in the door to try a new industry like business will be greatly appreciated. I am willing to put in the work if it will get me to where I ultimately want to be. Thanks a lot for reading and all your help!
