Career advice, please? Ultimately,I'd like to pursue a career in either of these fields.I understand that for a doctor, the prospect of nearly 6+ years of intensive study, and long hours of exhaustion working at a hospital/research center can be kind of daunting. Plus, there's an expensive student loan to compensate for, which is no doubt difficult as most doctors rarely get paid straightaway in their work. The "big bucks" come rolling in only when you've been in practice for quite a time.
I'm not so sure that i'd be emotionally and mentally prepared for such an endurance on my part, not to mention that i'd be sacrificing holidays, weekends, quality time with friends and family. :O
Although i love helping and connecting with other people-especially children-i also have my share of interest in travel. Engineers,i know,do quite a bit of this, and can also achieve the same type of financial security as a doctor can, depending on the type. The thing is,I'm more science-y than math,so would this be a problem while considering engineering as a profession? I somehow cannot see myself drawing up long equations each day within the seclusion of a lab. My best subjects, actually, have to do with English,History, journalism, etc. Its always been a passion of mine to write, but I'm not confident enough in my ability to risk all and make it my official career.
What do you think? 0.0 I'd much rather be a physician or pediatric in medicine, and perhaps a bio medics or even petroleum engineering, considering.
Please, any comments or recommendations are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! ;D (Sorry for kind of lengthy rant....but i wanted thoughtful advice?)
