I'm currently in my 3rd/4th year of Human Services and I also work full-time at a NPO in a direct care position. Recently, my employer offered me the new position as the Systems Administrator. I'd be the only IT person in the agency. I have no history in IT and my employer is only asking me because he believes that I'm good with technology and I'm a fast learner. They're offering to train me for two weeks before the current IT person leaves his position. I will earn more pay (roughly $5-$6 more than what I currently make), but I would end up working 5 days a week while in school instead of my current 3 days.

I agree with my boss that I'm good with technology because it's always been easy for me to learn how to use new gadgets quickly. Basically, I'm seeking input as to whether or not it would be a good idea to take the new position. My employer has always been good at working around college schedules, so I wouldn't have to worry about that. My biggest concern is how it would look on a resume if I were to pursue a career in Human Services. Not to mention the fact that I might turn out to be a terrible IT person after it's too late to turn around.
