So basically, as I finish off my senior year of high school, I know that I want to go into finance. I already have a paid internship at Fidelity Investments, and though I don't think I will be going into mutual funds, its great experience for a high school senior.
I am going to Vanderbilt in the fall, and am aiming for around a 3.8 GPA.
Lets assume I am able to continue getting solid internships and maintain a great GPA.
Preferably, I would like to live in Boston, but travel a lot, especially for the first two years. I am fluent in Spanish and French and maybe will do German as well in college. I don't know if I am interested in consulting, investment banking or what so I want some suggestions, maybe even more specifically suggestions on what firms to look at. I'd like a great salary of course, and, after business school, want to go into hedge funds or private equity.
Can I get some suggestions?
Thanks so much.

Boston has good consulting firms.

Which ones are best? How hard is it for a student from a school like Vanderbilt (not top tier) to break into consulting? What's the starting salary like and advancement opportunities? Thanks again.

There is no way I can get into a firm like Bain and Co from Vandy...They have less than a 1% acceptance rate, that is absolutely ridiculous! Are there 1000's of applicants who are significantly underqualified or what?

it's going to be difficult but not impossible. vandy is a very very good school so you have a much better shot than 98% of the schools out there

mckinsey, bain, and boston consulting group are all tremendously difficult ot break in to so it's a crapshoot even if you go to a top ivy. try to find some alumni to talk to who might recommend you for an interview

How tough is it to get into Accenture? That place is friggin huge
