Career for someone fascinated by the brain?

I am fascinated by research, articles, and PBS programs relating to the brain, perception, memory, behavior, dreams, etc. I also know I want to major in the medical field. I'm interested in performing experiments, and I'm relatively strong in math. Any suggestions on high school opportunities, college majors, colleges, and careers would be greatly appreciated.

cognitive science is exactly what you are talking about…so definitely look into a school that offers a cognitive science major or at least specialization (related majors include cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, cognitive sciences and linguistics). 2 of my friends interested in cognitive science are psychology majors, but by no means are you restricted to being that major. Take a look at this old CC thread for more info

In college, definitely look into NSF research opportunities (there are a lot). Your school’s psych. dept almost certainly has research opportunities that you can participate in, lead etc.

Thanks! I’ll look into that :)
